My name is Stacey Duke and I live in San Tan Valley, Arizona. I drive a school bus Monday-Thursday and work as a cashier at Wal-Mart part-time. Thanks to my weight loss program at Positive Changes, I have lost an amazing 91 pounds in only 10 months! Before hypnosis, I was wearing a size 1-2X and I am now in a slim size medium. I still can't believe how easy and effortless it was!
When I was overweight, I felt heavy and fat and to be honest, I had spent most of my life feeling that way. When I finally went to Positive Changes Hypnosis, I realized I was ready to get off of the diet roller coaster and begin making permanent changes in my life. I wanted something natural and easy; no more gimmicky diets, no more diet pills and no more self-sabotage.
It's funny, when you're really overweight, like I was, you don't want to think about it because it's so depressing. I never wanted my picture taken either because I knew I wouldn't have liked what I saw, which was the reality of being almost 100 pounds overweight. I can't believe I looked that bad! After my program and I lost 91 pounds in 10 short months, I noticed I could walk faster, breathe better and I had much more energy! On my walks, I noticed that my legs didn't rub together anymore! When you reach the point of desperation of going and having your stomach half removed and feeling like life will finally be normal and then you realize the struggle with making the right choices hasn't been removed, there is a feeling of helplessness. I would ask, "what did I do to myself?" My hands are always going to grab junk food unless something in my mind changes. Until you do you will never have control no matter what external things you do. Positive Changes helped me learn the proper way to grocery shop and what kind of foods to eat. They don't teach you that when you have a gastric bypass. Some of the other programs might try to teach you, but they want you to eat their prepackaged processed foods. Positive Changes taught me how to live my life, to be social and go to all those functions where food was involved and still be successful. It was realistic.
I grew up in a family that always had an open mind about things like hypnosis so it wasn't far-fetched to think that my weight problem could be solved easily through my subconscious. The biggest difference between the old me and the new me is the eating habits. I used to eat huge portions of all things unhealthy. Some of my favorites were large servings of red meat, potatoes, lasagna and spaghetti. After the gastric bypass surgery I couldn't eat those things without extreme pain so I ate yogurt and soups every meal. Of course I noticed weight loss after a while because I was depriving my body of nutrients and after a while I became bored. That's when I began eating sweets. I noticed that they didn't cause any pain but they certainly caused weight gain. The junk food was taking control over me and I knew that I needed to go to Positive Changes to gain that control back!

I really enjoy spending time with my family and a lot of that used to center on eating. The first time I realized that this program was working was during movie night at home. Everyone was snacking on chips or ice cream but I was content eating some fruit. I remember thinking, "oh, my goodness, this program is working." I can sit and laugh with them and truly enjoy myself when before I would have been sticking my hand in the potato chip bag or craving the junk food. It's nice to be able to say, "that looks good but I don't need that right now," and it's so easy. I used to feel left out if I wasn't eating with everyone else but now I know that it's okay to say no to those foods. I don't feel deprived of any enjoyment and it feels great to have control!
One of the greatest moments during my weight loss was when my boss told me I needed to get new shirts for work because mine were getting too big. I went up to the secretary and she came back with an extra-large shirt and I thought, for sure, that it was going to be too small for me but as it turned out, it was too big! I was so excited to go home and tell my husband that I got a large shirt that day. I just hadn't realized I had lost that much weight because it happened so quickly!
One day, my husband took me into the bathroom and said, "I want to show you something." He turned me to the mirror and showed me a picture of what I used to look like before Positive Changes. That's when I realized how much different I looked and it was the first time I noticed that I could see my neck and that I had lost weight in my arms and face. My husband has always been supportive of me no matter what weight I have been, but now he tells me how beautiful I am and that makes me feel really great. He loves being able to put his arms around me now and just holding on. Now he's able to shop for me and he enjoys surprising me with new things. He's actually the one who bought me my first medium sized shirt!
After that moment I felt fantastic about myself. I felt for the first time in my life that I had actually won the battle I was waging between my body and mind. I had more control and things were going to be okay. This time I'm not dieting, I have actually changed my life. This isn't going to be temporary. This is forever. I feel a lot better about how I've made these changes and I feel like I finally got my life back and am under control.
I can take a walk with my son and not feel like it's too hot or I can't make it. My kids are very outdoorsy people and now I can go camping with them and not feel like I can't physically make it. This is something I'll be able to accomplish for the rest of my life. I know I'm going to be able to do this forever. I know I'm going to be able to take the next step and go around the next corner today and a year from now and 5 years from now and that's what makes me feel great.

I would recommend Positive Changes to anyone who wants to lose weight. I have already recommended this program to several people I know. Dieting doesn't work, everyone has experienced that.
