My name is Diane Ring and I live in Spokane, WA. I am a diet technician. I've been overweight my entire life, pretty much since childhood. My self-esteem was very low at that point because of all of the negative family statements. I had tried other weight loss methods, never paying attention to what I put in my mouth. I was kind of a food-a-holic. I consumed what I liked and that was sweet and salty snack foods so I would gain and gain and gain. I tried other weight loss methods such as low-carb, the grapefruit diet, the cabbage soup diet and point counting. I did lose, but of course like everything else, I gained it back because I felt like I was depriving myself of what I wanted.
I was very, very upset about the yo-yo dieting part of my life. Everything would go up and down and my self-esteem was just not what it should be. I was losing myself in consuming foods that I just didn't need but they were comfort foods. I've had some health issues in the past with high cholesterol and obesity. I didn't want to take any medications to lower my cholesterol. I wanted to do it on my own. I was taking an anti-inflammatory to help me walk and to help with the pain level that I would have in my lower back. Exercising was very difficult for me but I did try to do stretching exercises. All of these were things I tried before coming to Positive Changes.
My weekly routine before coming to Positive Changes was I would eat and work and sleep. I pretty much did not do anything different, except for what I was watching on TV. I just had no motivation to make any changes. I heard about Positive Changes through the TV and my co-worker who looked fabulous and I was trying to figure out how she did it so I asked her. She said she came to Positive Changes. I was so impressed. Since I had tried everything else I decided to give Positive Changes a try. I needed a change in weight loss and I was willing to try anything other than surgery.
My first impression was that I felt very welcome and everyone was so supportive and friendly. The reason I chose Positive Changes was almost spontaneous. I just decided that I had enough carrying the excess weight and I did the best thing ever by walking through Positive Changes' doors. I felt such relief.
I felt that Positive Changes didn't cost as much as I thought it was going to be when I thought about all the money I had spent on other programs, joining and then joining again, along with the weekly costs and so on. I thought this is going to be an investment in me. For the first time I'm doing something for me. I wanted to lose 75 pounds. My goal weight was 165 and I started out at 240 pounds. I felt that at 64 years old, I didn't want to gain anymore. I had had it.
After enrolling in Positive Changes, I felt so impressed because right after my second week I wanted water, and water was not one of my beverages of choice before. I drank maybe one glass a day and that was all.
I saw changes my first week and I was just thrilled. I've gone from a size 22 pants to a size 10. I haven't been a size 10 since high school and it's been many years since high school. I've lost 78 lbs. It basically took me a little less than a year to lose this weight and I'm now at my goal weight. I'm just thrilled.
My eating habits definitely changed when I came to Positive Changes. As I said before, my intake was just full of high carb, high fat, and high sugar foods. After coming to Positive Changes, I look at foods so differently. I read labels and I look at ingredients. I am enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. This program has eliminated all my cravings, food binges and poor eating habits.
Right now I'm more confident and more determined to rebuild my body with such better nutrition which it has needed for so many years, but I had pretty much just neglected it. Since it hasn't failed me, it can be rebuilt.
After choosing Positive Changes, I realized the program worked because it does start with your mind. I didn't realize it, but it's true. I now exercise regularly and I hated it before. I do my stretches in the morning and at night I do whatever I can to keep my body moving. I listen to my hypnosis sessions 1-2 times a day and I definitely need it. I know it's necessary for success. You must listen to your sessions.
Before coming to Positive Changes, I had so much difficulty walking. I would be breathless and overheated in the summer. I would go to the store and I would have such a hard time with walking that I needed either a scooter or something to hang on to. I was just amazed that after Positive Changes I didn't have that problem. I didn't need to use a scooter anymore.
I can walk with my grandson and push him in a stroller around the block. I've lived in my home for 10 plus years and I had not been around my block. I would go half a block and get so breathless with my grandson that I would have to turn around and come back home. Now I can go around the block with him at his 20 months of age and just enjoy everything about him. Now I can get down on the floor with him and play which I could not do before. I am just so thrilled about my success from Positive Changes.
I'm more confident and my life is so much more complete. I'm proud of my accomplishments and I know I could not have done it on my own. I'm looking forward to more success in other endeavors that I would like to pursue. I feel so good about myself now and I feel more confident physically, mentally and emotionally.
As I said before, the changes in my habits are phenomenal. I used to have fast food at least 4 times a week and now I can't even look at fast food without getting physically ill thinking about all the fats that are in it. I used to drink one glass of water a day and now I drink 8-10 glasses a day without any problem at all. I used to snack at least 2 times a day on chips and ice cream. Ice cream before bed was a daily habit for me and now I only snack on fresh fruits and vegetables.
My portions were huge before coming to Positive Changes. I would also go back for seconds. Now my portion sizes are balanced. I used to binge. I could take a bag of chips and dip and consume the entire bag and now I don't. I used to crave ice cream, and now I don't. I used to think about food 24/7. Working in the food industry, I would see food all the time. Girls would bring in snack food and everything and now I think about meal times, and only eat when I'm feeling hungry and I eat the right foods.
I used to feel tired all the time and I had no energy. Now I feel energized. The girls at work call me the energizer bunny. I used to experience stress because I took everyone else's stress on. I would accept everyone else's stress as part of my life because I had to help everybody. Now I listen to my hypnosis processes and it helps me to control that stress, to take what I want and to leave the rest. I used to exercise zero times a week and now I exercise 3-4 times a week.
I can shop easily without even looking at the snack aisle twice. Those negative thoughts are gone forever and that is another grateful moment for me.
I've seen my doctor since coming to Positive Changes and she is just thrilled with my weight loss. My cholesterol is within normal and my bone density tests are within normal. I've noticed so many health improvements in my body. I have less back pain and as a result I take fewer medications for it. I have more stamina because of the weight loss. My blood pressure is lower. It has gone from 124/85 to 110/78. My cholesterol is lower and it went from 182 to 170. My HDL has gone from 69 to 57.
I am more relaxed and de-stressed since coming to Positive Changes. I learned so much more about food and nutrition. I took classes when I became a diet technician but that was many years ago so learning about food nutrition from Positive Changes was a good review for me and I appreciate all that was taught to me.
My family and co-workers have noticed my changes physically, mentally and emotionally. My son just can't stop saying good things about what I look like. He is so proud of me and my success. He has never seen me at this weight in the 27 years of his life. It has felt so good to me that I just can't say enough.
At this point and time I know limits of what I can and can't eat. I will still enjoy different types of foods but I know my limits now. I never wanted to know my limits before Positive Changes.
I'm looking forward to learning how to swim and I know that I can do that now. I had a fear of water before and now I know I can learn. I'm also ready to start an aerobics class. The fear of swimming is pretty much gone now because I have the confidence and direction that I need to make it happen.
I feel more confident and more empowered as an individual. I know I can accomplish most anything if I set my mind to it. I have a newly transformed healthier body, mind and spirit now. I'm more positive than I ever imagined.
The cost of the program is definitely justified. I am very pleased with my results and Positive Changes gave me the commitment to invest in myself for the first time in my life. I want to say that Positive Changes gets all the credit for my weight loss but I know now that this program was only a tool for my weight loss success. You will be successful by using the methods and the tools that are suggested. I believe that this will be a permanent weight loss because I'm a totally different person now. I'm more positive in all aspects of my life and I've proved to myself and others that Positive Changes Hypnosis works.
