I'm Greg Buckey from Dublin, Ohio. I am an executive who has lost 47 pounds and 5 inches thanks to my program at Positive Changes Hypnosis. In the first week of my program I lost 3 pounds and by the end of the first month lost a total of 15 pounds! I hit my weight loss goal in 6 short months, and then, to my surprise I continued to lose weight! I lost 7 more pounds exceeding my original goal! Before Positive Changes, I was so embarrassed of how I looked. I would avoid the camera and anyone wanting to take pictures of me. When I did get in a group picture, I would hide in the back (or thought I was hiding) because I was so embarrassed and frustrated with my weight. I never looked at pictures of myself. I felt so uncomfortably large that it was difficult to walk. When I was younger I looked at myself completely differently and was happy with who was looking back at me in the mirror. As time passed I avoided mirrors unless I was getting ready for the day and had to watch myself shave.
Before I decided to come to Positive Changes I was overweight for years. I quit smoking in 1983 and my weight gain started. Just walking caused me shortness of breath and I felt like everyone could hear me coming because of all the huffing and puffing. I could not ignore being fat any longer!
Before I started my program at Positive Changes I had horrible eating habits. Not only where my choices with what I ate unhealthy, the super-size portions of food I was eating were horrible. For breakfast I'd eat salami and processed cheese. By 9:30 or 10 I'd be hungry again and start eating potato chips or some other unhealthy snack. If someone brought donuts to the office, I was the first in line. Lunch was always about eating way too much. One of my eating problems was portion control. I have learned to eat a lot less and I don't feel like I have to be a member of the "clean plate club". I can save my leftovers and eat them another time while being satisfied and not feeling deprived. Now, my snack craving is gone and nothing goes in to my mouth that I don't think about first. My food choices are nourishing and satisfying to me. I make sure that my food is healthy and balanced but my change is automatic and effortless. The process is really easy. I don't miss the way I used to eat. I have never felt deprived in any way.
I tried losing weight with a low carb-diet but didn't lose much. I then gained whatever I lost back and I never attempted anymore diets after my failure. My doctor always told me that I needed to watch my weight. I remember during an annual physical my doctor reported that I gained three pounds that year. My good eating habits have become such a routine for me that there is no reason for me to gain weight again. In fact, I just got back from a vacation and not only did I eat whatever I wanted but every morning I automatically woke up and did my exercise. I didn't gain a pound of weight while I was gone. I came back from vacation feeling great!
I am absolutely more confident and proud since losing the weight. Now I'm not afraid to look in the mirror and I feel more comfortable around other people. I am more confident at work and more focused. I feel I'm able to handle stressful situations more effectively.
My friends and family are amazed with my weight loss, my wife and daughter especially. They just rave about me. They used to worry about all the extra weight I was carrying and how it might affect me and my health. Now they don't have to worry anymore. At work, while I was in the process of losing weight, no one ever said a word to me. It was amusing to me that no one seemed to notice the weight loss when I was losing just a few pounds.
