Melani Farneth from Columbus, Ohio![]() ![]() Hello. My name is Melani Farneth and I live in Columbus, Ohio. I am a resolution team lead. When I came to Positive Changes I was working from home. I had become a hermit. I didn't want to leave the house because I had gained so much weight from sitting and having access to the refrigerator all day. I never went anywhere on the weekends except to the grocery store. I was depressed. I would sit and cry for no reason at all. I didn't even clean my house, which is not like me. I shied away from my friends because I felt that they would say, "goodness, look at how much weight she's gained." I had become someone that I didn't like. I'm not someone who is a joiner. I don't participate in a lot of things but I couldn't wait every week for my appointments at Positive Changes. Yo-Yo Dieting I had been overweight most of my life at least somewhat. I wasn't always as heavy as I had gotten before coming to Positive Changes, but once I hit my 20's I had gained some weight and never really stayed thin. My weight yo-yoed up and down. Other Methods Did Not Work Before Positive Changes I had tried losing weight on my own. I tried cutting back on my portion sizes. I tried Weight Watchers. I didn't lose very much weight on Weight Watchers. I didn't like sitting down every morning, trying to figure out what I could eat and adding up all of those points. I never could go out and eat. It made me more depressed than I already was. Thanks to Positive Changes I don't even think about what I'm eating. I automatically make good choices and the weight melted off. I go out to eat with friends all the time and there's no problem. I'm just living my life. I'm happy now and it's the first time in a lot of years that I can say that. No More Size 2X When I saw the Carol Stopa ad for Positive Changes I had just gone and bought a pair of flannel pajamas in a size 2X and I couldn't even get the top buttoned. I thought, "That's it, if I can't fit into a size 2X it's time to do something." I saw Carol's before and after pictures and that was the ad that turned me around. I thought if it worked for her it will work for me. I had been reading ads for Positive Changes for about a year but never got up the motivation to go in and see what the program was about; but those silly cheap pajamas were the last straw. I made an appointment and went in to Positive Changes. I Felt Frumpy When I walked through the door of Positive Changes for my first appointment I have to admit I felt intimidated. I thought I looked so fat, especially in my heavy winter coat. I felt frumpy. I was embarrassed. The staff immediately made me feel comfortable. Everyone is so supportive and nice. They could see my fear and hesitation and immediately put me at ease. A Pleasant Experience The free evaluation was relaxed. I never felt any sales pressure. My evaluator was very pleasant. She put me at ease. I wasn't sure I could even be hypnotized and my evaluator demonstrated for me that I was indeed able to be hypnotized. That's when I knew this program would work for me and I signed up without reservation. I kept remembering those pajamas and knew that Positive Changes was right for me. I Am the Same Size Now as I Was in High School Since I started my program at Positive Changes I have lost 70 pounds. I went from a size 18W to a slim size 6. I haven't worn a size 6 since I was in high school during the 60's. In my first week on the program I lost 6 pounds. By the end of my first month I had lost an astounding 18 pounds. Wow! When I had knee replacement surgery a few years ago I lost my sense of taste from too much anesthetic. The only foods I could taste were sweets and sugar. Thanks to Positive Changes I have no desire for sweets or candy. The temptation is totally gone. I ate fattening, heavy foods at mealtimes. I ate a lot of red meat. I didn't pay any attention to balanced nutrition. I would eat a big chunk of cake for breakfast. Then I'd take my snickers up to my office to munch on while I worked. When I took a break I would eat some lunch and then eat some more candy and bring some cake back up to work with me. I was eating all day. And my portion sizes were way too large. Stress-free and Skinny Since my knee replacement, gaining weight was my biggest concern because my knee had started to bother me again. I was afraid that I would need another surgery. Since losing weight, I can walk totally pain free. I suffered from bleeding ulcers. I almost died from it. My doctor told me my stress level was too high. Now, my ulcers are gone. I haven't needed any medication since I started at Positive Changes. I know that the stress reduction benefits of hypnosis are to thank for that. I used to have blood pressure issues and was on medication. Now I no longer need my blood pressure medication. Losing weight helped my blood pressure, but the main thing was how far my stress level dropped with hypnosis. I would listen to my hypnosis processes 3 times a day and followed the program the way I was supposed to. I would just relax and listen. That's all it took. Even though I've completed my program at Positive Changes, I still listen to my sessions every day. It's my time to relax and take time for myself. Healthier Choices Never before in my life have I exercised. In February, I bought my first treadmill and now I walk 1 ½-2 miles a day, every day. My program at Positive Changes has helped me find the motivation to take care of myself. I was able to eliminate the sweets and sugar from my diet. I wanted to eliminate the cravings I had for rich starchy foods and to cut down on the red meat. Now I eat fish most nights of the week and I love it. My meals are much smaller now by choice. I don't even have to think about it. I don't have a desire to overeat anymore. The changes came naturally. I eat a healthy and balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner and that's all I want. I never have the desire to snack. I don't get hungry between meals and I only eat when I get hungry. I'm satisfied with the way I'm eating now and I don't miss the old me for one minute. I learned a phrase at Positive Changes; "Nothing tastes as good as my new size 6 feels." To me, no food is worth gaining another pound for. I am a happy, bubbly person now. It's amazing to me considering how depressed and stressed I was before I started this program. It Was Totally Effortless Positive Changes isn't a diet. I eat what I want and as much as I want, but through the process of going through this program my mind has totally changed. I tell my friends this was totally effortless. If you follow the program and listen to your sessions and make an effort to do it, there is no effort to losing weight. You have to participate by allowing yourself time to sit back, relax and listen but that's all you have to do. How much easier can losing weight be? I was always excited to come to my appointments at Positive Changes. I've never done anything in my life that I was so excited about. I Now Have Tools to Stay Healthy for Life I truly believe that I have been given the tools to remain thin and healthy for the rest of my life. My way of thinking has been changed completely. I no longer have any desire for the foods that caused me to gain weight to begin with. I go to the grocery store and I don't even see the unhealthy foods anymore. Put me in the produce section and I start drooling. Those are the foods I want. If I Can Do It, You Can Do It Losing weight has made me a confident person. I go out now. I do all the things that I hadn't wanted to do in a long time. I go shopping. I enjoy it. I was able to go to Old Navy and buy clothes that I would never in a million years have been able to wear before. I can't even explain how different I feel inside. I am a better role model for other people. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I go to neighborhood parties every Friday night--parties that I had stopped going to when I was overweight--and all my friends and neighbors are so proud of what I've done. I am happy to tell everyone about Positive Changes Hypnosis. I Got My Life Back I would recommend Positive Changes to anyone who wants to lose weight.
