My name is Brett Petro and I live in Westerville, Ohio. I am a business analyst who has lost 79 pounds and 8 inches off my waist thanks to Positive Changes Hypnosis. The first week in my program I lost an astonishing 7 pounds and in the first month I lost around 16 pounds. My weight loss was quick and easy. I haven't weighed what I weigh today for 30 years-- when I graduated from college. That's a great feeling.
I wasn't hugely overweight until the last 10 years, but I was carrying more weight than I should have for many years before that. Before joining Positive Changes Hypnosis I had tried other methods to lose weight. I exercised my brains out but when I got injured and couldn't exercise at that level anymore, my weight loss efforts stalled. Even when I was exercising a lot, my weight loss was never permanent. I would lose some weight and then turn around and gain it back.
My daily routine used to be going to work, eating breakfast and lunch there. I would come home and cook dinner for the family. In the evening I'd read the paper or surf the net and before I went to bed I would eat again. †I would just shovel the food in. The routine started off as snacking and then it would snowball into meals. My breakfast was usually a good meal. My lunches would sometimes consist of fast food and at dinner I always ate too much and the extra meals before bed were always too much. I felt out of control. And because of my injuries I was unable to exercise and burn off the extra calories. I used to eat simply out of repetition.
Being overweight I suffered from aches and pains. It was hard on my joints to carry around those 79 extra pounds. I didn't sleep well. I didn't feel good and my clothes didn't fit. I knew I had to do something about my weight and when I saw the ad in the newspaper I called Positive Changes.
I was skeptical at first. I work in a very technical field, so I wasn't easily convinced that hypnosis would be right for me. I thought I'll just give it a try and we'll see; if it doesn't work it doesn't work. This program has exceeded all my expectations. My first impression of the center was a positive one. I didn't know what to expect but the initial evaluation was very comfortable. I didn't feel sales pressure to sign up. The turning point for me, the place where I stopped being skeptical and started believing, was the first week of my program. I saw results immediately. It was completely different from how I thought hypnosis would be. I had the public's idea of what hypnosis was and how it works. I was so wrong. I found I enjoyed hypnosis very much and looked forward to all my sessions. I felt really good about my choices right away. After that week the doubts were gone and I was on my way. It was effortless.
Thanks to Positive Changes my eating habits have completely changed. Now, I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. All of a sudden I'm willing to try things I would never have eaten before, and I like the new foods. I seek out healthy foods that are colorful and fresh. I notice I've cut way back on my meat consumption. It just doesn't have the appeal for me that it used to. One huge change that I noticed instantly, after my very first session of hypnosis, is that I no longer crave coffee. I used to drink at least ten to twelve cups of coffee a day. It never bothered me, but after my first session I just didn't have the desire to drink that coffee anymore. Now I drink plenty of clean, clear water.
I noticed changes in my behavior right away when I started my program. As I said, I stopped drinking coffee but I also noticed I was choosing different foods to eat. It wasn't based on me telling myself I couldn't have certain foods. It was a positive thing. I wanted to try new foods that were healthy and vibrant. It was unconscious. I never felt deprived. I wanted the new foods. It was an instant change. My weight loss was so easy. I tell people that I talk to about my weight loss that my weight loss was effortless. I don't have to work hard at it. I just had to let it happen and it did.
I no longer have the urge to snack after dinner time and I don't miss it. I can walk by something my kids are snacking on and I simply don't have the urge to join. I don't crave junk foods anymore. I now eat more balanced meals for breakfast and lunch. My portions are small and balanced now. I am satisfied with my diet and I easily make better choices. I never feel deprived. I can eat less and enjoy it so much more. Now, I think about every mouthful I eat. I don't give up foods that I love. I went through Christmas and the holidays while on my program. I still enjoyed my favorite holiday foods. I just ate less of it. I enjoyed it but when I was done with my small portion it was enough.
I have more energy than I did before. It's easy for me to get up out of my seat if I need to get something done. I definitely sleep better at night, which positively affects my entire life. I have always been a happy person, but now I'm really happy. I just feel †better. I never really felt unhealthy being overweight, but the fact that I was overweight was constantly on my mind. I thought about it every single day. Now I just feel great. I can certainly tell the difference in my life between now and before. I have a better attitude.
I visited my doctor about a month ago for a normal annual physical. He was thrilled with my weight loss. My blood pressure was better and all of my blood work was right where it was supposed to be. That's a great benefit to losing weight, knowing that I'm becoming as healthy as I can be.
I know that I will never gain my weight back. I view this journey as a lifelong thing. I have no desire to go back to my old ways of eating at all. I like what I'm doing as far as my diet is concerned and I like the new foods I've added to my diet. I'm having fun and it's easy to stick with this plan. I don't feel deprived.
Losing weight has given me a new found confidence. I do a lot of public speaking in my job and I know how to do it. I've done it for years. But every time I stood up in front of a group of people, no matter what the subject was, I was thinking about my weight. I know I looked overweight and I was uncomfortable. I don't worry about that at all. That has completely left my thoughts. I'm completely comfortable speaking to any group at any time. I am very proud of my accomplishment. I tell everyone who asks me and even people who don't!
I think I have become a better role model for my children as well. I had been a widower for many years and they were starting to be concerned about my health and would talk to me about those concerns. My son would take food off my plate without asking me. They would tell me to take better care of myself because they didn't want to be orphans and that really shook me up. That pushed me to seek help from Positive Changes. I am remarried now and my wife and children are thrilled with my weight loss and improved health. My friends are happy for me and a lot of people ask me how I did it. I'm happy to explain it to them. It's a great feeling to hear their comments.
