My name is Glenn Brown. I'm from Boise ID and I’m retired for the most part. I just finished a 12 week program at Positive Changes and I lost 37 lbs. I just bought a pair of size 32 jeans! My wife and I were in the program together and we both virtually lost the same amount of weight. I guess I’ll start from the very beginning. I, as I think most people will be, was a total skeptic when I started and I could not believe that something like this could work and be so easy. Now that I look back, I can say it was so easy. At first I had no hint that it could work but my wife got me involved and she was very enthused. Now we are probably the biggest salesmen Positive Changes has. My wife loves it so much that she is even started to work here part time. That says a lot.
There are several changes we have seen in our lives. It’s more than the weight loss and it’s more than the food. It’s positive changes; it’s the little things that get planted into your subconscious that just pop up when you least expect it. The things that really make you realize that there is something that’s working. I learned a lot about our subconscious and I’m reading a book about it trying to learn more.
My wife and I still listen to the sessions daily; we go to sleep with them at night and wake up with them. It’s not every single day, but we still listen 3-5 times a week. We made our own little library.
I have two good stories now that we’ve finished our program. I guess the greatest story that I liked about this is that our program got over on January 31st and on February 1st, we were on a flight to Mexico. We spent 14 days down on the beach eating different foods than we have up here so we had to watch what we were eating. During this vacation we ate, because of course you can’t go without the chips in Mexico, but the end result was that we got home and had enjoyed ourselves but when we weighed we had both lost a 1/2 a pound. That made us feel so good about ourselves, about the program, about thinking that we can continue to lose more weight on our own now that the program is over.
We were not deprived what so ever. We are noticing that this is not a diet. It’s really is positive changes, just in the way we are living our lives and the way we are making other choices in our lives like the way we schedule our time and use it more efficiently. For 1/2 of my 12 week program I was not in Idaho. I have another house 100 miles from here and during half of the time I was on my own, listening on my own. I was not here where we were getting the encouragement. The Positive Changes program still worked for us.
So one last story that made me feel so positive. As I gained weight over the last couple of years, I had a lot of clothes hanging in my closet that I didn’t even want to look at or deal with. I knew many of them didn’t fit but I just left them there anyway. Just before our vacation, I went through my closet and I tried everything on and it was just a great, fun thing. Of course everything fit or was too big for me. I had the pile of “I’m never going to be that big again” that was going to the goodwill, and then all the clothes that I had kept now fit or are loose. In fact, I have a belt on right now that is the smallest it can go. I realized this morning that I needed to buy a new belt. It’s just the little exciting things like that that make you really enthused about this program.
