Hi. We're Lisa and Scott Olmstead. We live in Alexandria, Ohio. Together we have lost an astonishing 133 pounds and 12 clothing sizes thanks to Positive Changes. That was 3 years ago and we've maintained our weight loss easily and naturally. Here are our stories:

Lisa's Story:

Baby Weight for 19 Years

I am the general merchandise supervisor of a private university. I lost fifty pounds during my program at Positive Changes Hypnosis and went from a size 18 to a slim size 6 in five months. I had been overweight probably nineteen years, since the birth of my third child. I was never able to lose that baby weight after the last child. I had what my husband jokingly called the three kids' spread. When you have kids you eat a lot of fast food and eat later at night, things I might not have done before kids.

Nothing Fit

Being overweight was hard. I couldn't find clothes that fit. I didn't like the clothes that did fit me. There is nothing an overweight person hates more than trying on clothes. I didn't have any stamina. I didn't care about exercise. I felt bad about the way I looked. Thanks to Positive Changes I now have fun when I'm shopping. I'm confident. I look great.

Poor Eating Habits

Before Positive Changes it was normal for us to eat a pizza 3, 4, sometimes even 5 nights a week. We drank soda all the time. Our house always had plenty of candy available, any kind of chocolate. I used half and half in my coffee. I ate my 3 meals a day and plenty of snacks in between. I was a big snacker. Three or four nights a week we'd have a huge bowl of ice cream right before we went to bed.

We Can Eat What We Want!

What I love about Positive Changes is this program is not a diet. I was never on a diet with Positive Changes Hypnosis. This was a lifestyle change and behavior modification. We can eat what we want. If I want a piece of chocolate I eat a piece of chocolate. If I want cake I eat a piece of cake--I just don't eat the whole cake anymore. If I order pizza I don't order one pizza for myself and one for my husband. We order a small pizza together and eat a salad with it--but we don't order pizza all that often anymore. Actually, we have only ordered pizza 3 times in the past 3 years. It's just not something that we crave anymore. A lot of things have changed in what we eat. I really like to cook and experiment with foods and it's been fun coming up with new ways to make healthy meals with my family. And it's nice to know that now my husband will actually eat the healthy things I cook. We now drink 1% milk in our house. I no longer use that heavy cream in my coffee anymore. All the little things that we were doing that added up are no longer an issue anymore.

Fewer Migraines!

Losing weight on the Positive Changes program was very easy and natural. I no longer have to take blood pressure medication and I sleep so much better at night. I used to get headaches all of the time. I had migraines for forty years. Now, I have migraines less often because I'm not eating the foods that trigger them.

Scott's Story:

I started my program at 268 pounds and now I weigh 185--that's an 83 pound weight loss! I went from a 48 waist to a 36 waist. I had been overweight at least nineteen years. For me being overweight was an embarrassment. I work in athletics and I got a tremendous amount of ridicule from friends and coaches. They would tease me about what I was eating and tell me that I was eating too much. The worst part for me was just looking like a slob. I could have a suit on and I would still feel fat. I remember the creases on my shirt where my big belly would crease the shirt against my pants. I hated that.

I Felt Like a Beached Whale

Before Positive Changes I joined my family in pizza night several times a week. I would drink a gallon of milk a day. At Thanksgiving, my mother used to put a gallon of milk on the table next to my plate and I'd drink the whole gallon with dinner. It was never skim milk or 2%--I had to have whole milk. I would have eaten my three meals for the day by noon. I would eat ice cream usually 7 nights a week before bed. I'd go out with friends for drinks and come home and have a huge dish of ice cream with nuts and chocolate syrup on top. I was putting a lot of sugar in my system and it was causing acid reflux in the middle of the night. I would spend an hour in the middle of the night brushing my teeth and drinking water trying to get the burning out of my throat, and then have to try to fall asleep again. Our family used to go out to an Italian restaurant every Monday night. The last time we ate there, before Positive Changes Hypnosis, we ate so much we were almost sick. I can't believe we used to eat that much. I felt like a beached whale and was miserable. I didn't eat fruits and vegetables.

Better Food Choices

Since coming to Positive Changes my eating habits have changed. I still eat foods I love, but I enjoy them in moderation. I still eat out with my family, but I make healthier choices when I do. I used to only eat a steak or cheeseburger when we ate out. Now, I will choose fish or salad. A lot of times we split our meal or have a salad. I'm still just as satisfied with what I'm eating. I enjoy eating fresh foods. That's the biggest change I've made. I've learned to try new things and enjoy them.

Pants Fit Me Perfectly

Since losing weight I literally laugh out loud when I go try on clothes now. Before Positive Changes I would have to try on the exact same brand pant, same size pants, five or six times to find one that fit correctly. Now, I can just pull one pair of pants off the rack and they fit perfectly. I can just pick out anything I want to wear and know I'll look great. My co-workers were skeptical of my weight loss at first. They didn't believe that I could keep the weight off permanently. But now, three years later, they are believers too. I don't even have to think about my weight loss anymore. It's just who I am now.

I Plan on Winning the 5K!

Before Positive Changes, I wasn't interested in exercise at all. I didn't want to hear about it or think about it. My hypnotist insisted that that be something that we work on together. I remember my session regarding exercise was on a Tuesday. My wife came home on the Thursday after that and I was jogging down the road. Lisa pulled over and asked what I was doing. I said, "I wish I could tell you." This past summer I ran a 5K and finished third for my age group. I'm proud of that.

No More Back Problems

This program works. If you listen and you do what you're supposed to do it works. If you follow the program it works and all you have to do is listen. The biggest difference in my life is I sleep so much better. I haven't had a bad back day since I lost weight. I had had two operations on my back and still had back pain due to my extra weight. I no longer have that problem. I don't have the problems with acid reflux anymore and I don't wake up in the middle of the night.
