My name is Melissa Woods and I live in Spokane, WA. I heard about Positive Changes from so many places I'm not sure which one I saw first. I remember looking at the ads in the newspaper and thinking yeah right, hypnosis-what a joke. If it worked so great why doesn't everyone do it? Now that I have lost 37 lbs in the last 6 months I now ask myself, why isn't everyone doing this? I was a huge skeptic. But for some reason it all just made sense.

I've been overweight for most of my life, but I really started putting it on once I started having children. I was never big into all the fad diets because I could never afford them. I've always just tried to cut back on what I ate, but it never worked. I would eat great all day and at night I would find myself in front of the cupboard trying to find whatever I could to eat. It didn't matter that I wasn't hungry and I knew I was just bored. I would even have conversations with myself in my head saying you don't need that… why are you eating, you're not hungry... if you eat that, you will be mad at yourself tomorrow. But I never listened and the next thing I knew, I would be sitting in front of the TV with 6 cookies in my hand. So the more I thought about hypnosis the more it made sense. I knew what I should be eating; I just couldn't get past my voice in my head. I needed help.

I did lose quite a bit of weight about 3 years ago. I actually got myself to stick to a diet, but I had to think about it all the time. I even talked about it all the time. I was obsessed with it. I ended up losing 50 lbs but never made it to my goal, and I was always looking forward to getting off of the diet. I wanted to eat the same foods my family ate. I was tired of being the only one not eating desert. Well slowly but surely I started to gain the weight back. I kept saying I would get back on track, but after I gained 15 lbs, that's when I joined Positive Changes. I didn't want to gain the weight back again and I wanted to finally make it to my goal. Now thanks to Positive Changes Hypnosis, I'm 15 lbs lower than my original goal.

When I first came in for my free consultation I already knew that I wanted to sign up. It was just a matter of cost and commitment. I listened to what my evaluator had to say and the best part was I wasn't going to have to be obsessed with my weight loss anymore. I wasn't expecting a magic pill. I knew it was going to take some effort on my part, but the customized program at Positive Changes Hypnosis made the effort easy. The little voice in my head stopped bugging me and I was able to make smart decisions. I no longer think about food as a flavor, but instead about its nutritional value. I know the cake would taste good, but how does it really benefit me? The taste isn't worth it anymore.

I started noticing changes in my behavior right away; I would say within the first week. I was drinking more water and didn't have the cravings for sweets like I normally would. I would not say that my weight loss was consistent. I would lose 3-4 lbs one week and then nothing the next 2 weeks but it didn't matter to me. I knew that eventually the weight would come off, and for the first time I didn't get discouraged when it came off slowly. I wasn't worried about it. I knew it would happen. I've been off my program for almost a month now and I haven't gained a pound back. Even though I don't go in on a regular basis anymore I still eat and exercise the same as when I did. I didn't go on a diet this time. I changed my eating habits. I love the foods that I eat. I'm even eating foods that I didn't like before, like fish and tomatoes.

My self-esteem and confidence were lacking before Positive Changes, but now I would say they are great. I feel more comfortable with myself so I'm not worried that people are looking at how fat I am when I'm having a conversation with them. I'm not embarrassed anymore. I didn't realize how much I let my weight effect my life until I lost it. I have so much more confidence when meeting new people and trying new things. For the first time in my life I can walk by a mirror and see what I expect to see. It used to shock me when I would look at myself overweight. In my mind I didn't look like that. I was thin. I would pick out clothes that I thought were so cute on the rack and it didn't even bother me picking out the larger size, but when I would put them on and looked in the mirror, I would immediately take them off and put them back on the rack. I would never end up buying anything. They looked horrible on me. Now I can go shopping and I love it. My kids are sad because I now shop for me instead of them all the time.

One of the most exciting experiences I had since coming to Positive Changes, and it may seem silly, but when I entered my weight and height into a BMI calculator it actually said I was healthy. Not overweight or obese like I used to always see. Now I am healthy and happy. I know my weight loss will be permanent because I didn't diet and I'm not going back to my old eating habits. I would say the cost of the program was definitely worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I recommend Positive Changes whenever I get a chance to.
